Readings with Sarah Kobrinsky at Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition The
Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition expands its celebration of the arts to include
poetry readings with Emeryville’s Poet Laureate Sarah Kobrinsky with poets Hugh Behm-Steinberg, Paul Corman Roberts, Tim
Donnelly, Vernon Keeve III, Kathleen McClung, Connie Post, Xan L. Roberti, and Salame Samiat,. The
readings will take place in the exhibition hall, amidst artwork created by more
than 107 Emeryville artists and craftspeople. The work includes paintings,
sculpture, photographs, ceramics and textiles.

Sarah Kobrinsky is the 2013-2015 Poet Laureate of
Emeryville, CA, and a Pushcart nominee. Her poems and stories have appeared in
Eleven Eleven, Fjords Review, Magma Poetry, Monkeybicycle, 100 Word Story, *82
Review, Red Light Lit, Shampoo Poetry, among many others. She was born in
Canada, reared in North Dakota, seasoned in England, and tempered in
California. Sarah and her husband have a handmade dinnerware company called
Jered's Pottery.
Hugh Behm-Steinberg is the author of Shy Green
Fields (No Tell Books) and The Opposite of Work
(Jackleg Press), as well as the recent chapbook,
The Sound of Music (Dusie). With Matt Davignon,
he performs improvised experimental music under
the bandname Oa. He is a member of the CCA
non-ranked faculty collective bargaining team.
Paul Corman-Roberts is the author of the brand spanking new prose poem collection We Shoot Typewriters from Nomadic Press. An original co-founder and co-producer of the Beast Crawl Literary Festival, he is also a contributing editor to the Oakland Review and remains an emotionally available Libra in the Bay Area (fair disclosure.)
Tim Donnelly is a Special Education paraprofessional and
shop steward living in Berkeley since 1991. He has recently published poems in
Eleven Eleven, Saturday Night Special, Fustercluck, and The Dead Animal
Handbook.
Vernon Keeve III has been published in Ishmael Reed’s Konch
online magazine, received the Zora Neale Hurston Award from Naropa University,
and was a featured reader at the SF Jazz Poetry Festival of 2014. He earned his
M.F.A. from the California College of the Arts, and a M.A. in teaching from
Bard College. He is a high school English and history teacher for OUSD. Look
out for his book of prose and poetry Conversations with a Southern Migrant from
Nomadic Press.
Kathleen McClung is the author of Almost the Rowboat
(Finishing Line Press, 2013) and her poems appear in Mezzo Cammin, Unsplendid,
Atlanta Review, Ekphrasis, West Trestle Review, A Bird Black as the Sun:
California Poets on Crows and Ravens, Raising Lilly Ledbetter: Women Poets
Occupy the Workspace, and elsewhere. A 2014 Pushcart Prize nominee, she was
winner of the Rita Dove Poetry Prize and finalist for the Morton Marr, Elinor
Benedict, Robert Frost, and 49th Parallel poetry prizes. McClung serves as
sponsor-judge of the sonnet category of the Soul-Making Keats literary
competition and as reviewer for the William Saroyan International Prize for
Writing, sponsored by the Stanford University Libraries. She teaches writing
and literature classes at Skyline College and the Writing Salon. She lives in

Connie Post is the Poet Laureate Emerita of Livermore (2005 to 2009). Her work has appeared in Calyx, Spoon River Poetry Review, Crab Creek Review, Slipstream, The Big Muddy, Valparaiso Poetry Review. Her awards include the Caesura Poetry Award, the Dirty Napkin Cover Prize and second prize in the Jack Kerouac Poetry Prize. Her chapbook And When the Sun Drops won the 2012 Aurorean Editor’s choice Award. Her first full length book Floodwater was released by Glass Lyre Press in 2014 and won the Lyrebird Award.
Xan L. Roberti is the winner of the 2014 New South Poetry
Contest. She is currently a nominee for *82’s Best of the Net for 2015, and
won second place in the Mississippi Valley Poetry Contest 2013. In May 2015 her
work was featured in “Poems on the Emery-Go-Round.” She has published in Beloit
Poetry Journal; Sparkle + Blink, Off Channel, and Goodfoot, and Her memoir
Portable Housing was nominated for the Walter Sindlinger Award. She is a
contributor to LitSeen. She lives in San Francisco on a windy hill.
Born in Lagos Nigeria, Salame Samiat licked palm oil stew off her
fingers, and listened to folklore about greedy tortoises until the age of 13.
Upon her parent’s insistence, she moved to Saint Petersburg Florida, where she
endured a tormented four years of an American high school with an African
accent. She is a Voices at VONA Alum and her work has appeared in Konch and
Life Out Loud Magazines. She recently graduated with her MFA creative writing
degree from the California College of Arts, where she was awarded the All
College Honors for her writing.
