Ekphrastic Poetry Reading -Sunday, October 24, 2020Sarah Kobrinsky, the 2013-2015 Poet Laureate of Emeryville, held this generative writing workshop. Participants composed poems in response to the artwork in this year’s Celebration of the Arts show. Using various prompts and techniques, they explored new ways of seeing with our words. Complete beginners to seasoned writers participated. Participants submitted their poems for an anthology, and participated in a live reading on October 24th.
There was an evening of Poetry and Jazz featuring musicians Ryan Pate and Dillon Vado, and poets from the Ekphrastic Workshop. Ekphrastic poems focus on works of art by interpreting, inhabiting, confronting, and speaking to their subjects. The ekphrastic poems at this reading will focused on any of the 200+ works of art in the 35th Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition.
