The 23rd Annual Emeryville Art Exhibition proudly stages this large survey of artists who live or work in the city. These are difficult economic times for the arts as well as the entire nation. This show is a tribute to the resilient spirit of artists who continue to make vibrant expressions amongst this backdrop. Considerable expense and effort are expended to share this art with a public audience.
In these hard times, we are equally grateful to the many donors and supporters who contributed to this show. There are many volunteers along with the City of Emeryville and the Emeryville Exhibition Operating Committee doing important work behind the scenes to facilitate this event. BRE Properties, Inc. once again stepped forward to contribute this space and support for this site.
For this juried exhibition, Kimberley Johansson of Johansson Projects in Oakland and Suzanne Tan, Executive Director of the Berkeley Art Center joined with me in selecting the artists and works included in the show. Sharon Wilchar as Project Coordinator, melded all the myriad pieces together to make this event successful.
We have a wide panorama of visions and mediums on display. Surely there is something for every taste and curiosity and as always, there are new rewarding surprises.
